Homelessness Awareness Sleep-out

Tonight MVT made huge progress on our final event for this semester. We have been discussing the idea of a homeless awareness sleep-out since the beginning of the semester, but tonight we finally put those plans into action. We used the resources available to us by collaborating with the Social Justice Awareness group on campus. Their cause is to bring awareness to problems in the area, one of those being homelessness. We were able to get in contact with this group by networking through our contact at Crossroads who told us about another organization on campus who was interested in helping stop homelessness.

The sleep-out is an event that the Social Justice Awareness group has done once in the past, but they have given us the permission to take control of the project to be more successful this time as well as agreeing to have all of the proceeds go towards Crossroads. The group has offered their services to help us out in any way possible and we will be sure to use them as the vital resource they are.

By collaborating with the Social Justice Awareness group we will not only be able to learn from their mistakes in the past, but also use their knowledge about how to put an event on at PC since the process is going to be very difficult.

MVT is very excited about this opportunity and will keep the blog updated as we continue on this journey!
